She was in Italy to perform for Cartier, but while diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, for Nicole Scherzinger that role goes to the man she has described as “my rock” – her partner of 20 months, Thom Evans.

Making yet more precious memories, the couple enjoyed a sun-soaked break in Lake Como, mixing business with pleasure as they spent time exploring the picturesque surroundings.

Officially there for a weeklong series of events hosted by the jeweller at luxury hotel Villa d’Este (right) – which she called “a singer’s dream come true” – Nicole also took the opportunity to celebrate her 43rd birthday in style.

The big day itself was spent waterside with Thom (left), the super-fit pair swimming and jumping off a bridge as well as enjoying romantic meals together.

“I hope your Birthday was as Beautiful and full of love as you are,” Thom told Nicole in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I love you very much.”
