Continues to be the BBC’s highest-paid star
Gary Lineker has remained the BBC’s top earner this financial year, despite agreeing to take a pay cut of almost £400,000.
This year’s annual report from the corporation shows the 60- year- old Match of the Day host earnt £1.36m over the last financial year, down from £1.75m the previous year.
At the time of his 23% pay cut, the former England footballer said: “I love working with the BBC and am very proud to continue to be a part of their outstanding football team.”
Radio 2’s Zoe Ball, who also took a voluntary pay cut, continued to be the BBC’s second-highestpaid star. Her annual wage was reduced by 28%, taking her to £1.13m from £1.36m. Her fellow DJ Steve Wright came third, with £465,000.
