NICOLE KIDMAN HAIR-RAISING START TO FILM SHOOT

-

As one of the most celebrated actresses of her generation, Nicole Kidman’s scenes rarely end up on the cutting room floor. However, fans last week were wondering if that was where her trademark curls had gone after the star uploaded a photo to Instagram.

Taken on location in Sydney during a break in filming the new Apple TV+ series Roar, the images showed the Oscar winner showcasing a very different hairstyle (left) – and caused her followers to do a double take.

“On set [ rainbow emoji] # Roar #FemaleFilmmakers,” she wrote, leaving no clues as to whether she has actually braved the chop and reduced her long strawberry-blonde locks (below left) to a sharp pixie cut.

It wouldn’t be the first time Nicole, 54, has used wigs to transform her look, though: she wore them for her roles in Lion and Destroyer. Asked by one radio presenter which was her favourite, she answered: “Well, I’m using my own hair now so I think that’s probably my favourite. My own hair.”

Not that she has always embraced her curls, as she told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper last year, saying: “Do I wish I hadn’t screwed up my hair by straightening it all the time? Sure.”

Based on Cecelia Ahern’s book of the same name, Roar is the latest in Nicole’s growing body of small- screen work, following on from productions including the Golden Globe-winning Big Little Lies

and last year’s thriller The Undoing.

She also stars in and produced the new eight-part series Nine Perfect Strangers,

saying making the show was “a great opportunity for me to give back to the community that nurtured me through so much of my career”.
