THE DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE SPREADS THE WORD TO SAVE THE PLANET
It is a book that sets out to explain how to save our planet, so when it was announced that the definitive guide to his Earthshot Prize was to be published, the Duke of Cambridge (left) was understandably keen to be involved – and agreed to write an introduction.
The Royal Foundation and Prince William launched the global environmental competition last year to highlight the need for change and encourage innovative solutions to the challenges threatening our planet. Each year for the next decade, £1m will be awarded to winners in each of five categories. Calling the prize “a truly global event”, William enlisted the help of like-minded supporters including Queen Rania of Jordan, singer and philanthropist Shakira and Sir David Attenborough (pictured below with the Duke and Duchess and their children).
The legendary broadcaster and naturalist is among those who have contributed to the book ( below right), which will be published in September, ahead of the inaugural Earthshot awards ceremony at London’s Alexandra Palace. There will also be a five- part BBC TV series focusing on the five Earthshot goals, which include Clean Our Air and Revive Our Oceans.
