RONNIE WOOD DISPLAYS HIS ROAR TALENT
Whether it is performing on stage or in his art studio with paintbrush and easel, Ronnie Wood has plenty of reasons to take pride in his work – and that was particularly true of his latest endeavour (below). An accomplished artist, the Rolling Stones guitarist happily accepted the challenge of personalising two lifesized lion sculptures for conservation charity Tusk’s art project The Tusk Lion Trail 2021.
Created at the London home he shares with his wife Sally (together left) and their twin daughters Alice and Gracie, five, Ronnie’s lions (also left) will be part of an international art installation, joining those decorated by other famous names, including fashion designer Donna Karan, All Blacks rugby hero Richie McCaw and The Great British Bake Off presenter Noel Fielding. The results will go on display on World Lion Day next month, in London, New York and around the globe, before being auctioned to raise money for Tusk.
Ronnie, a Tu s k ambassador for many years, said: “I couldn’t be more humbled and excited to be part of the Tusk Lion Trail,” and called the charity’s work with Africa’s endangered lion population “very close to my heart”.
He added: “Channelling creativity via art is a big part of my life and painting two lion sculptures for the Tusk Lion Trail is something I have very much enjoyed doing over the last couple of months.” For details, visit tuskliontrail.com.
