YEO-MAN! THE TOURS ARE BACK

While there’s been a bit of beef around the lifting of Covid restrictions, there is one thing everyone is happy about: the return of the Beefeaters’ tours at the Tower of London.

The Yeoman Warders, who have guarded the fortress since Tudor times, are back entertaining tourists with tales from almost 1,000 years of history.

Each of the Beefeaters has to learn “the story” of the Tower of London by heart and must do it within six months of taking the position. Having not delivered tours since 20 March 2020, the Warders have been practising in order to thrill visitors with tales of torture, intrigue, executions and more.

Meanwhile, at Windsor Castle, royal fans were thrilled at the Changing of the Guard ceremony (below), back for the first time since the pandemic.
