HEIDI KLUM and KATY PERRY lead the stars at a glittering charity gala for Unicef in Italy
AS HEIDI KLUM AND KATY PERRY AMP UP THE STYLE
Lighting up the lilac carpet against a backdrop of violet hydrangeas, feathers and blush-hued roses, supermodel Heidi Klum and her 17-year-old daughter Leni enjoyed the most glamorous of mother-daughter dates last week as they joined a galaxy of A-list stars descending on the Italian island of Capri.
Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Vanessa Hudgens and John Legend were also among the starry guests who gathered at the historic Certosa di San Giacomo monastery for the LuisaViaRoma for Unicef Gala, just as the sun set on the sparkling azure seas and luscious vegetation of one of Italy’s most idyllic hotspots.
Heidi and Leni, who with her long blonde hair and pretty face bears a striking resemblance to her mother, stole the show in metallic ensembles, with Heidi shining in a sparkling champagne-coloured Elie Saab creation and her daughter going for gold in backless Versace as she made her red carpet debut.
Leni – who is following her mum into the fashion world and who has posed for brands including jeweller Chopard – revealed she usually favours a far more understated look, writing on social media: “Stepped out of my sweats for a day and wore this gorgeous @versace dress.”
But the teenager was more than happy to get dressed up to the nines for the annual fundraiser, hosted by luxury retailer LuisaViaRoma and Unicef Italia, which raised more than £4m to support Unicef’s work in providing safe shelter, nutrition and protection from conflicts, natural disaster sand inequality to vulnerable children across the globe.
ISLE BE SEEING YOU
Also showing their support for the worthy cause were pop superstar Katy and actor Orlando, enjoying a date night ahead of celebrating baby daughter Daisy Dove’s first birthday at the end of this month.
The Roar singer made a stylish statement in an elegant monochrome

1978 haute couture Pierre Cardin gown, featuring a black bodice and voluminous sleeve creations, while Orlando looked dapper in pale chinos and a navy blazer.
Adding a splash of colour to the stylish parade of arrivals were models Marianne Fonseca – in flowing lime- green Atelié – and Karolina Kurkova, who brought a splash of Italian summer in the form of a colourful Dolce & Gabbana ensemble.
BUBBLY GATHERING
The guests, who also included Sabrina Elba and Tamara Beckwith, were treated to a champagne reception in the magical setting under the stars, with the 14thcentury monastery’s stone cloisters decked out with flowers and ancient hallways bathed in candlelight.
They sat down at tables adorned with sprays of purple and blue flowers and bottles of tequila courtesy of Casamigos Tequila, which supported the event, to feast on a delicious dinner, followed by a live auction of luxury items and experiences conducted by Harry Dalmeny of Sotheby’s.
Lots included Hollywood legend Steve McQueen’s 1961 Cooper Formula Junior racing car, which was auctioned off by Orlando Bloom; a rare Astronomia watch by Jacob & Co.; fine artworks by Andy Warhol, Alex Israel and Richard Orlinski; and a week-long holiday on a 240ft superyacht that boasts six bedrooms, resident gourmet chefs and a 20ft swimming pool.
As the dazzling evening got into full swing, Katy slipped into a breathtakingly theatrical caped Dolce & Gabbana floor- length gown dripping with golden sequins to deliver a showstopping rendition of Moon River, duetting with All of Me singer John, who accompanied them on the piano.
Their moving performance was in honour of one of Unicef’s most renowned supporters, former goodwill ambassador Audrey Hep burn, who originally performed the ballad in 1961 movie classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Katy, who like John also performed some of her own hits throughout the night, paused mid-set to reflect on her joy at the return of live music and events, saying: “Doesn’t it feel good to be together again?… This is better than being stuck in a room – and we get to dress up.”
John, joined by his wife Chrissy Teigen, was keen to highlight the cause behind the event. “Everyone is enjoying being fancy tonight but it’s so important the work Unicef is doing to make the world better,” the Grammy winner said.
