THE PRINCE OF WALES HEADS NORTH

-

The Prince of Wales wore a traditional kilt and sporran last week as he visited Dunrobin Castle (above and below).

Prince Charles, known in Scotland as the Duke of Rothesay, wore the dark green and red Rothesay tartan for the trip to the most northerly of Scotland’s great houses.

The 189-room castle, on the east coast of the Northern Highlands looking out over the Moray Firth, has its own train station and the Prince was there to mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Duke of Sutherland’s railway, which ran 17 miles from Golspie to Helmsdale.

Charles has been staying at the Castle of Mey, the Queen Mother’s former home on Scotland’s northern tip.
