OLYMPIANS FLYING HIGH ON RETURN HOME

Team GB athletes received a hero’s welcome upon their touchdown from Tokyo last week. Met by a sea of flying Union flags and a cheering British Airways crew, the superstars soaked in the jubilant atmosphere on the steps of the aircraft (left) as they celebrated their incredible success – which saw Team GB match their overall medal haul of 65 from London 2012.

The final flight home from Tokyo landed at Heathrow Airport, with passengers including Laura and Jason Kenny ( inset left), whose incredible performance saw Laura become Team GB’s most successful female athlete and Jason crowned the most successful British Olympian ever.

The competitors’ luggage was weighed down with eight gold, nine silver and three bronze medals, a total of 10.3kg. British Airways, the airline partner for Team GB, will be giving all medal winners executive card status to celebrate their success.
