‘Bruce is a terrific partner and family man. I’m lucky to have him in my life’

It’s been 12 years since British model and actress Emma Heming married Hollywood tough guy Bruce Willis in a moving ceremony at their idyllic Parrot Cay estate in Turks & Caicos in the Caribbean.

They renewed their vows in the same spot two years ago, with both ceremonies attended by Bruce’s exwife Demi Moore, who has remained a close friend of the couple.

From the start, Emma and Bruce’s match created the most modern of blended families, with an emphasis on caring, sharing and fun.

Indeed, Bruce’s daughters from his first marriage – Rumer, 33, Scout, 30, and recently engaged Tallulah, 27 – are devoted to their half- sisters Mabel Ray, nine, and seven-year-old Evelyn Penn, and join in every big celebration in the Heming-Willis household.

Now, as 43- year- old Emma embarks on her new passion project – a line of vegan cosmetics for mumsto-be, named CocoBaba – she has the entire clan behind her.

Showing his tender side, Die Hard star Bruce, 66, has been wholeheartedly supportive of the venture.

This year, to mark their wedding anniversary, Emma posted a shot of the couple on Instagram with the caption: “Boy I sure do love this guy to the moon and back… He’s my family, he’s given me the family (and more) I dreamed of and I love him to my core.”

As she reveals to hello! how she’s taking on her latest challenge surrounded by a united, happy family, she tells us: “I’m so lucky.”

Emma, how did you come up with the idea of CocoBaba?

“I came up with the idea after having my first baby and realising that, at the time, I couldn’t find an authentically good-for-you product to fit the needs of my changing body.

“I turned to a tried- and- true family staple: coconut oil. I used it throughout my pregnancy and came out stretchmark free.

“For a person who is stretch markprone, that was my ‘Ah-ha’ moment that I needed to create a line using this hero ingredient.”

Did your whole family support you in your dream?

“I’m so lucky to have a very supportive family unit around me.

They were so supportive because they could feel how passionate I was around starting the brand.”

What is CocoBaba to you?

“CocoBaba is a consciously formulated, vegan bodycare line with moms’ needs and concerns in mind.

“Besides being a simple yet effective line, I want our consumer to take that time to focus on their selfcare as they use our products.

“Moms have a great tendency to put themselves last on the list. I want to help refocus our efforts without guilt.”

How do you feel when you see women – celebrity or not – using CocoBaba products?

“Nothing makes me happier when I hear from my friends, family and our consumers that they

‘As a family, we love to laugh, have fun and just enjoy each other’s company’

are loving the products. It’s truly the greatest gift I could receive because I put my heart and soul into those formulations, so it’s definitely such a rewarding feeling to receive that positive feedback.”

What’s the next step for the CocoBaba family?

“We newly launched in the US and we’re just very focused on that at the moment.

“We do have other products we are working on as well, so it’s a very exciting time for CocoBaba.”

How did motherhood change you as an individual?

“It’s definitely opened my eyes to a different universe. Now it’s not just about what’s good for me, but what’s good for my family as a whole. Their wellbeing is always at the forefront of my mind. I also realised very quickly that there is no time to burn when I became a mom, so I had to become very laser- focused and strategic to what gets and deserves my time. It’s actually pretty liberating to have that gauge now.”

What is your skincare routine? Do you find a little self-time?

“Do I have a skincare routine? It’s one of my favourite pastimes!

“Nothing says self-care to me more than taking time twice a day for my skincare routine. I love trying new products and I also change my routine according to the seasons.

“As for self-care and making time for myself, I schedule that in my calendar like I do all my other appointments and meetings, or I just won’t get it in.

“Recently, since my daughters are back in school, I drop them off and head to a hiking trail and do that most mornings for about 30- 45 minutes. It’s one of my favourite activities I do for myself at the moment.”

What do you love the most about your husband Bruce?

“I’ve always loved his sense of humour and kind spirit. He’s a terrific partner and family man. I’m lucky to have him in my life.”

You love Bruce’s older daughters and are friends with his ex Demi. How would you describe your family?

“I think I’d describe us as a family that, when we get together, we love to laugh, have fun and just enjoy each other’s company.”

‘Becoming a mom opened my eyes to a different universe. Now it’s not just about what’s good for me, but what’s good for my family as a whole’
