The Emily in Paris star weds

Her music-legend dad famously sang that You Can’t Hurry Love, but that wasn’t the case for Emily in Paris star Lily Collins.

“I knew the second I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day,” she once said of film director Charlie McDowell.

And that wish has now come true, with Lily and her 38- year- old beau marrying on 4 September in the stunning rustic setting of Dunton Hot Springs, Colorado.

Breathtakingly beautiful in an embroidered lace gown by Ralph Lauren, featuring a high neck, long sleeves and a sweeping lace train, the 32-year-old bride – the daughter of former Genesis drummer and singer Phil and his second wife, Jill Tavelman – wore her hair up in a sleek bun. Her hairdo was covered with a delicate lace-hooded, caped veil in some of the wedding photographs she shared to her Instagram account.

“What started as a fairytale is now my forever reality,” Lily captioned one, which showed the couple kissing by a cascading waterfall. “I’ll never be able to properly describe how otherworldly this past weekend was, but magical is a pretty good place to start.”

She said of Charlie, the son of A Clockwork Orange star Malcolm McDowell and Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen: “I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife. I love you beyond @charliemcdowell.”

Meanwhile, Charlie posted his own tribute to his radiant bride, writing: “I married the most generous, thoughtful and beautiful person I’ve ever known. I love you @lilyjcollins.” To which Lily responded: “I’m so excited to be your WIFEY,” followed by heart and fire emojis.

Celebrity friends of the couple were also quick to congratulate them on their joyful news.

“I’m so happy for you two! Many happy wishes for a wonderful marriage,” wrote Reese Witherspoon, while British actress Lily James said: “Wow, wow, wow – magical.”

Tennis legend Maria Sharapova praised the pair’s chosen wedding destination – a location surrounded by 14,000ft mountain peaks – by saying: “One of my favourite places.”

Lily has recently finished filming the second series of Emily in Paris, about a young, fashionloving American who moves to the French capital for work.

She first started dating her new husband in 2019 and he proposed a year ago, during a road trip in Sedona, New Mexico, presenting the Surrey-born beauty with a stunning ring featuring a rose-cut diamond – described by the piece’s designer Irene Neuwirth as “one of a kind”.

“I will forever cherish my adventure with you,” Charlie told Lily at the time. Now they begin the next chapter of that adventure as husband and wife.
