GOLDEN BUZZER FOR A BIG BIRTHDAY BASH

Colourful characters, a few surprises and plenty of laughs – David Walliams’s 50th birthday party had all the elements of one of his best-selling children’s books. Surrounded by glamorous guests, the comedy star and Britain’s Got Talent judge had his ultimate plus-one by his side: his mother Kathleen. Posting a picture (top left) on Instagram, David captioned it: “Party time.”

The Studio 54-themed celebration took place at Claridge’s in central London, with David making his entrance on a white plastic horse – recalling Bianca Jagger’s notorious appearance at the New York nightclub in the 1970s. He mingled with famous friends including newlyweds Ant McPartlin and Anne-Marie Corbett (together left), Ayda Field ( below left), Amanda Holden and Holly Candy (below right), while the evening featured a performance by Sir Elton John.

Sharing details of her outfit with fans on Instagram (below centre), Amanda wrote: “All dressed up for someone’s big birthday bash.” And she was not the only one: Elizabeth Hurley went all out in an iridescent Retrofête dress with a plunging neckline (right).
