The Wire star passes away

Actor Michael K Williams was last week found dead at his home in New York from a suspected drug overdose. The five- time Emmy nominee, who shot to fame as celebrated character Omar Little in landmark TV drama The Wire and also starred in Boardwalk Empire, was 54. Michael’s representative said in a statement: “It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy- nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams.”

HBO, which produced The Wire, said: “While the world is aware of his immense talents as an artist, we knew Michael as a dear friend who was beloved by all who had the privilege to work with him. We send our deepest condolences to his family for this immeasurable loss.”
