Opens up after cosmetic procedure goes wrong

Supermodel Linda Evangelista has spoken out after a cosmetic procedure left her “brutally disfigured”.

Explaining why she has not been seen publicly for the past five years, she wrote: “I was brutally disfigured by a procedure which did the opposite of what it promised.” The 56- year- old Canadian star said she experienced a rare reaction to a fat-reduction procedure five years ago that “increased, not decreased” her fat cells. It left her “permanently deformed”, despite “two painful, unsuccessful, corrective surgeries”, she continued.

Saying she had become a recluse, she added: “I am moving forward to rid myself of this shame, and going public with my story.… I would like to walk out my door with my head held high.”
