JUDY’S NON-SURGICAL FACELIFT
There was a lot of attention last year on 62-yearold Judy Murray’s non-surgical facelift and Dr Judy Todd, who carried out the treatment, explains why: “After one session, people generally notice firmer, smoother, more lifted and hydrated skin. It works for anyone with lines, wrinkles and sun damage and it also helps with skin laxity and some jowling.”
So how does it work? “It’s called Morpheus8 and it works by using microneedles to inject radiofrequency energy into the skin. Together they stimulate collagen. The needles quickly penetrate and withdraw immediately, which creates a micro-trauma, stimulating the healing response, while radiofrequency uses heat to tighten the skin,” says the aesthetic doctor.
The treatment has become popular because it’s relatively painless but very effective in reducing signs of sun damage and sagging, which was what attracted Judy (left), the mum of tennis aces Andy and Jamie Murray.
“After being on tour with tennis for all these years, she had some significant sun damage as well as some heavy lines on her neck that she wanted to reduce,” says Dr Todd. “She was very clear that she would only ever consider noninvasive treatments, so Morpheus8 was the perfect choice. She had four treatments over a year – one every two to three months or so. She was thrilled with the final result and even her sons noticed the difference in her skin.”
There is minimal downtime but avoid the sun for a few days after to protect skin. And find a practitioner with clinical knowledge to avoid any damage caused by microneedling.
The results of Morpheus8 are long-lasting – Judy recommends refresher treatments twice a year to maintain results.
At Synergy Giffnock in Glasgow, where Dr Judy Todd performs the treatment, it costs £1,500 for one session or £2,500 for two sessions. Visit synergygiffnock.co.uk.
