Bucks have too much for Dartmouth
TRIBUTE DEVON ONE
Buckfastleigh announced their return to Devon One following promotion with a 16-12 win at Dartmouth.
The Ramblers shot into an 11-0 half-time lead thanks to a Jack Chew try and two Harry Laity penalties.
A further try by skipper Scott Mason extended the lead to 16-0.
Dartmouth are not short of impact players with experience at a higher level and two of them scored tries to throw the game wide open.
Declan Hammond was shunted over in a maul and Koree Britton added a second try after coming off the bench.
Dave Champion cut the deficit to four points with a conversion, but a winning score eluded the Riversiders.
Dartmouth have no game this Saturday.
The Ramblers are at home to free-scoring Wessex.
Totnes will hope it is third time lucky for them this Saturday when they host Exeter Saracens in Devon One.
A narrow opening-day defeat by Dartmouth was followed-up by a 61-25 hammering away to Exeter Athletic.
The result probably says more about the strength of the Athletic – a club formed by the merger of Wessex and Exeter Youth – than the current state of the Totnes team.
Jamie Mitchelmore scored Totnes’ only points in the first 40 minutes, which ended with Athletic 33-5 up
made more of a game of it in the second half and secured a four-trybonus point with Ed Foster, James Ruddock and Aaron Bartlett crossing.
away to Torrington this Saturday, were beaten 40-5 at home by Tamar Saracens.
