Cracking opportunity for young dancers
TWENTY-FOUR young dancers aged between seven and 14 from across the South West are rehearsing for performances of The Nutcracker with the Vienna Festival Ballet company on November 3 at the Princess Theatre in Torquay.
The aspiring dancers successfully auditioned to dance the roles of party children in the Christmas scene and mice in the battle scene in act 1 of the ballet.
The dancers are attending weekly training at Best Pointe Ballet, which offers specialist ballet training, based at the gymnastics club in Barton, Torquay. Lizi Eringa, an Examiner of the Royal Academy of Dance, is training the dancers for the performances.
She said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for young dancers to perform with a professional ballet company. The dancers are enjoying rehearsals and are excited for their performances with the company.”
