CHEERS! Cider festival pulls in £2k for causes

Revellers enjoy Hunts Cider Festival

MORE than £2,000 was raised for local charities as Hunt’s cider hosted a Cider Festival on the farm where it makes its craft cider.

Four hundred people headed to Broadleigh Farm near Stoke Gabriel to party the night away with craft cider, lager and ales from local producers.

Live music came from an array of local artists including headline act I Love Amp.

Cantina provided the food, cooked on site over a firepit, with the event forming part of the Seafood Feast in which Torbay celebrated the fishing industry.

Rowcroft Hospice will receive £1,002, as will the Devon Air Ambulance.

Rosey Oakes of Rowcroft said: “£1,000 to each charity is amazing! This will allow us to pay for two care at night shifts, which enable the family of the patient to have a good night’s sleep’ and half a dozen music therapy sessions which help ease stress and anxiety.”

Both charities are close to the hearts of the team at Hunt’s Cider.

Annette Hunt said: “We are delighted to have raised over £2,000 for charity.

“I had the air ambulance land when I had an accident on a farm and can’t thank them enough for their support. This was our biggest event to date and that’s thanks to the work of the team here at the cider farm and the support of the local community.

“The work now begins for next year’s event!”
