Final gala dinner for Trevor

-

TICKETS are on sale for the 13th and final Trevor Ward Foundation Trust Gala Dinner, being held at the Riviera International Conference Centre in Torquay on November 23.

The Foundation was set up in 2006 after the death of Trevor Ward, who spent his life supporting children and shaping their future.

He was a teacher for over 30 years, spending most of his time at Paignton Community College. Alongside his teaching he dedicated a lot of time to Queens Park with Paignton’s cricket and rugby clubs.

Chris Read and Roger Twose were some of the talented youth players that Trevor helped nur- ture that went on to play international cricket.

Remarkably he also set up ‘Paignton Playtime’, a programme which ran daily activities for children during the summer holiday. It is estimated that 17,000 children attended over the years he ran this.

The Trust was set up to help children fulfil their sporting potential. Over the last 12 years the trust has donated more than £40,000.

Trust chairman Tim Ward said: “I would like to personally extend a heartfelt thank you to the trustees who have dedicated an enormous amount of voluntary time in supporting the Foundation.

“I will be saddened to see the end of the gala dinner but thrilled that it is going to be another amazing event, with support from high profile guests celebrity chef Michael Caines and former England cricketer David Nash along with local businesses, past players of both rugby and cricket clubs and current members and loyal supporters.

“Times have to change and move forward and I am excited to see what the future holds in terms of accessing more people to attend different events and benefit the next generation of sporting youth coming through.” For ticket information call 07501 968325
