MP had the courage of convictions

-

An open letter to Dr Sarah Wollaston MP.

Dear Sarah Wollaston, The dark side of online social media is clearly illustrated in the way that you are being attacked.

The attempts by perverse Brexit followers to infiltrate your party constituency group, with the aim of having you deselected, are utterly disgraceful. Sadly, very few MPs have shown the courage to do what you have done.

When you changed your mind on Brexit to supporting the Remain campaign, you told the world.

You followed what your heart and mind were telling you was the best course for our country. Many of your Westminster colleagues have just kept quiet.

Keep up the fight and remember the vast majority of your constituents are behind you. Nil desperandum carborundum illigitimi.

Each week we will publish a snapshot of South Devon — can you guess where it is? Our pictorial clue is a photo taken somewhere in the area. Can you recognise where?

Last week: Stonework of Heritage Museum, Brixham answered. Most people did respect the two minutes’ silence, but the rest of the service commentary and the band that played was difficult to hear at times with the level of disrespectful chatter going on around me.

Surely it is not too much to expect everyone to leave their phones at home or at least turn them off for the duration of the 45-minute service, to respect those who are being remembered and allow those in attendance to hear what is being said and reflect on the occasion? Well done to all those who took part, who looked so smart and rightly proud.
