Opportunity for young
I HAVE been working with a partnership of groups and organisations who work with children, young people and families.
We have over 23 partners who have developed a strategic framework, a set of key principles for working together and we have started bidding as a partnership.
The first piece of partnership work funded through this new mechanism was led by Play Torbay, who worked with 21 other groups and organisations to engage 532 young people, which has given us a much clearer picture of what is missing and why.
We plan to use this to inform our partnership delivery in the future.
If you would like to see the published findings, please email simonsherbersky@torbaycdt.org.uk or access the report on our website: https://goo.gl/6qfb7Z
We believe that we are stronger together and can have greater positive impact on the lives of young people by collaborating.
Our current focus is on accessing additional funds to enable us to develop new offers that we plan to co-design with young people.
We are in the process of bidding to the Big Lottery Fund for partnership funding to work with young people, develop the partnership infrastructure and fund additional activities for two years. This is the fruit of three years of partnership discussions and our hope is that we will develop a more joined up support offer across voluntary sector groups and organisations, sharing skills across the partnership and really involving young people in everything we do.
This is a very exciting time, as we are starting to move to action after a lot of talking.
If you work with young people and are operating in Torbay in the community, voluntary and social enterprise sector in Torbay and you want to join our partnership, please contact me at the email address above and we will add you to the partnership list.
Outcomes for many young people in Torbay are not what they need to be.
Some of Torbay’s statistics paint a very bleak picture, for example 1 in 4 children living in poverty.
Our partnership is committed to improving opportunities for young people in Torbay, with an aspiration that young people say Torbay is a fantastic place to grow up.
