Double awards for Kiaira
INSPIRATIONAL Torquay nine-year-old Kiaira Lee has become the first child to achieve 100 hours in the Children’s University - in the same month as winning third place in her first ever regional gymnastics competition.
Kiaira of Barton Hill Academy achieved 100 hours after amazing work across extracurricular activities in many areas including sport, arts and crafts, and music.
She will now be presented with a Gold award and attend a graduation ceremony at Plymouth University, following in the footsteps of her teachers.
Kiaira is also a budding gymnast at the South Devon School of Gymnastics and won third place at her first competition.
Kiaira has been doing gymnastics since the age of three, and dance from age two, performing at the Princess Theatre three times. She also enjoys Girl Guiding, Tap dancing and attends Athletics training every week. Kiaira enjoys the wide variety of clubs her school has to offer and has participated in Performing Arts, choir, guitar, crafts, and running club.
Headteacher Jane Young said: “Kiaira is doing brilliantly in many areas. We are thrilled for her. Our pupils are loving the Children’s University. It is building skills, self-esteem, and confidence, as well as curiosity, motivation, resilience and a love of learning.”
