Man injured in harbour assault

A MAN ‘thought to have serious head injuries’ was assaulted outside a Torquay bar in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Torquay harbour at 2.10am on Sunday following reports of the attack.

Police cordoned off the area outside Seamus O’donnells bar on Victoria Parade while they dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called to an incident outside Seamus O’donnells in Torquay following reports a man had been assaulted.

“We were concerned the man had suffered a serious head injury which could have been potentiall­y life threatenin­g. However his injuries were minor and the man does not want to make a complaint.”

IT WAS all eyes on the pie as Torquay’s St Matthias Church hosted its annual Blackberry and Apple Fayre. There were stalls and games, a raffle, competitio­ns and an endless supply of refreshmen­ts.
