Remembrance Day traffic restrictions

TORQUAY’S Remembrance Sunday Ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph in Princess Gardens on November11 at 11am.

Torbay Council has been working closely with Devon and Cornwall Police and has requested a sterile area for the whole of the seafront area for security reasons.

Torbay Road will be closed between the Belgrave Road/Abbey Crescent junctions along to Torquay Pavilion between 9am and 2pm.

Torbay Road will have a parking suspension, in both directions, active on Sunday from 1am through to 2pm.

No vehicles will be permitted within the closed road of Torbay Road between 9am and 2pm (without exception).

Only pedestrians will be allowed to have access through the closure between 9am and 2pm.

Local businesses, emergency services, taxis and public transport have all been informed, and diversions will be in place.

A spokesman said: “Once the ceremony has finished and the parade has comfortably passed, Torbay Council will endeavour to reopen the highway as soon as possible.”

There is a drop-off point for disabled and elderly attendees at Torquay Pavilion via the diversion routes.
