Crackdown on ‘moped muppets’
POLICE in Brixham are cracking down on anti-social behaviour in the town.
Residents and councillors had complained that gangs of youths, including the so-called ‘moped muppets’, were running riot. One councillor said their behaviour was damaging the fabric of the town.
Police have put in place an exclusion/dispersal authority for parts of the town under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act.
Sixteen dispersal/exclusion orders have been issued and multiple bikes seized.
There have been 17 arrests relating to anti-social beha- viour, including a group from out of town.
A police spokesman added: “All those identified as being involved in Brixham anti-social behaviour have been visited at home by officers with parents present, and some have also been visited by Torbay Council ASB Officers.”
