Emotional tributes to victim

-

EMOTIONAL tributes have been left at the scene of a crash in Torquay in which a young Romanian man was killed.

Andrei Zaharia, who was 23, was a front-seat passenger in a car which left the road and hit a tree just off the seafront around 4am on October 11.

Rathmore Road was sealed off behind Torquay Recreation Ground as emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the crash. The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries and another passenger travelling in the back of the car was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth with a serious leg injury.

He has since been released. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was later released under investigation pending further inquiries.

The tributes to Mr Zaharia include flowers, candles and photographs. Above the photographs is a card reading: “Rest in Peace Beautiful Soul! You will always be remembered no matter what. Your presence, love and kindness will be forever with us.”

Another card reads: “Odihneasca-se în pace”.

The phrase is Romanian for Rest in Peace.
