Crack­ing op­por­tu­nity for young dancers

TWENTY-FOUR young dancers aged be­tween seven and 14 from across the South West are re­hears­ing for per­for­mances of The Nutcracker with the Vi­enna Fes­ti­val Bal­let com­pany on No­vem­ber 3 at the Princess Theatre in Torquay.

The aspir­ing dancers suc­cess­fully au­di­tioned to dance the roles of party chil­dren in the Christ­mas scene and mice in the bat­tle scene in act 1 of the bal­let.

The dancers are at­tend­ing weekly train­ing at Best Pointe Bal­let, which of­fers spe­cial­ist bal­let train­ing, based at the gym­nas­tics club in Bar­ton, Torquay. Lizi Eringa, an Ex­am­iner of the Royal Academy of Dance, is train­ing the dancers for the per­for­mances.

She said: “It’s a won­der­ful op­por­tu­nity for young dancers to per­form with a pro­fes­sional bal­let com­pany. The dancers are en­joy­ing re­hearsals and are ex­cited for their per­for­mances with the com­pany.”
