Po­lice probe fire­work at­tack claim

A WOMAN said her mother was left shaken after two men threw fire­works at her be­fore try­ing to run her over.

Sev­eral peo­ple said they re­ported the men to po­lice fol­low­ing incidents in the Pen­den­nis Road and Aud­ley Av­enue ar­eas of Torquay last Fri­day evening. A woman who posted on so­cial me­dia said her mother was tar­geted by the men while out walk­ing her dog.

Wish­ing only to be re­ferred to as Miss Green, the woman said the in­ci­dent be­gan when her mother shouted at the men, after they were throw­ing fire­works in gar­dens and even at peo­ple.

She wrote: “Around the Pen­den­nis area, two grown men [were] throw­ing fire­works in gar­dens and at peo­ple. My mother was tar­geted while walk­ing her dog home. She wit- nessed them throw­ing fire­works into a gar­den and shouted at them, they threw the fire­works at her and her dog.”

Miss Green said the men then got into a car and drove over a pay­ment and onto a green area in an at­tempt to run her over.

“Both mother and dog are ok, very shaken but not harmed. This has been re­ported to the po­lice, who said they’ve had four calls re­gard­ing this.”
