Man flown to hospital after train tracks injury

A MAN was flown to hospital after being found injured on train tracks near Teignmouth station.

Emergency crews were called to the patient at 8.55pm on Sunday.

An air ambulance and doctor were also on the scene, which caused train services to be held for some time.

Witnesses reported seeing a large number of emergency services vehicles heading to the station – and a police helicopter hovering overhead.

Steve Pileford, who lives in nearby Bitton Park Road, said he also saw a helicopter land at a neighbouring rugby pitch.

The railway line reopened shortly before 10pm.
