Man, 102, airlifted to hospital
A 102-YEAR-OLD man was airlifted to hospital after a car crash in Paignton.
The man was taken by Devon Air Ambulance to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital after the crash on the seafront near the Redcliffe Hotel on Thursday evening.
The main seafront road was closed throughout the evening as police dealt with the incident. The air ambulance landed in darkness at Queens Park, one of its designated night-time landing sites.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who may have dash camera footage of the crash which happened at 4.05pm at the point where Marine Drive meets the Esplanade.
Two cars were involved. One, a Toyota Yaris, contained an 83-year-old local man who was taken to Torbay Hospital with minor injuries.
The other vehicle was a Ford Fiesta containing a woman driver aged 68 and two male passengers aged 70 and 102.
The driver and her 68-year-old passenger were also taken to Torbay Hospital with minor injuries.
The 102-year-old passenger was taken by Air Ambulance to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.
