Fes­tive fun be­gins in Paign­ton

CHRIST­MAS got un­der way in Paign­ton with the switch­ing on of the fes­tive lights at the Christ­mas Tree in Palace Av­enue Gar­dens.

The Ro­tary Club of Paign­ton presided over the event and pres­i­dent Chris Sum­ner had the hon­our of throw­ing the switch. Chil­dren from the town’s Sa­cred Heart School sang car­ols, and Fa­ther Christ­mas paid a visit. Sat­ur­day sees a Bee­hive Christ­mas Fair from 10am in Palace Av­enue Methodist Church, and fun with Fa­ther Christ­mas in Tor­bay Road from 11am on­wards.

On Sat­ur­day, De­cem­ber 8, a Fes­ti­val of Light Pa­rade will take place from Tor­bay Park to Palace Av­enue Gar­dens, start­ing at 3.45pm.

A Christ­mas quiz is on De­cem­ber 14 from 7pm in the Coverdale Cen­tre, a Christ­mas fayre hap­pens in the same lo­ca­tion the next day from 11am, and Mother Goose is the town’s panto at the Palace Theatre from De­cem­ber 20 to Jan­uary 2.
