Festive fun begins in Paignton
CHRISTMAS got under way in Paignton with the switching on of the festive lights at the Christmas Tree in Palace Avenue Gardens.
The Rotary Club of Paignton presided over the event and president Chris Sumner had the honour of throwing the switch. Children from the town’s Sacred Heart School sang carols, and Father Christmas paid a visit. Saturday sees a Beehive Christmas Fair from 10am in Palace Avenue Methodist Church, and fun with Father Christmas in Torbay Road from 11am onwards.
On Saturday, December 8, a Festival of Light Parade will take place from Torbay Park to Palace Avenue Gardens, starting at 3.45pm.
A Christmas quiz is on December 14 from 7pm in the Coverdale Centre, a Christmas fayre happens in the same location the next day from 11am, and Mother Goose is the town’s panto at the Palace Theatre from December 20 to January 2.
