Two women rescued after brothel raid
POLICE rescued two women after a raid in Torquay to close a pop-up brothel.
Officers from the South Devon Proactive Policing Team, acting on information, visited an address in Lucius Street and found the women who were given safeguarding support.
One person has been detained on suspicion of immigration offences. Police will now investigate whether there have been offences of exploitation, modern day slavery or human trafficking. Earlier this year an All Party Parliamentary Group found pop-up brothels are being used on an “industrial scale” by trafficking gangs to exploit women.
