Paying price of too many concessions
THE issue of bus services 60 and 65 being cut due to their losing money (HEX, November 14) should raise the question as to why, considering that plenty of people claim to need them.
The real problem arises from the fact that as many as nine out of 10 passengers do not pay a fare but instead use their Concessionary Pass.
The bus companies are in turn not paid enough by the council/government to cover their running costs.
There are two seemingly obvious solutions to this.
