Charity rounds off 40th birthday celebratio­ns

BEFRIENDIN­G charity Brixham Does Care is ringing the changes as it rounds off its 40th anniversar­y year with two special events.

The annual Mince Pie Christmas Singalong on December 10, previously held in the morning at the Scala Hall, now switches to an afternoon event in the Brixham Does Care Café from 1.45-3.45pm. The children of Furzeham Primary School Choir will perform and a raffle will be held during the interval. Tickets include tea and a mince pie and are available from the BDC office by the Town Hall, 01803 857727.

On December 14, at 6.30pm, comes the Christ- mas Big Band Night at the Scala Hall, with entertainm­ent by the Brixham Town Band and a fish and chip supper. Tickets from the BDC office. Fancy dress is optional at both events.

The recent Memories Are Made Of This variety show at the Berry Head Hotel raised £839 towards much-needed funds. The sell-out audience was entertaine­d by magician Gareth Foreman, Totnes School Of Dance, Pendulum 5, Tina Shiraz, and co-hosts Martyn Paddon and Jim Hopkinson.Highlight of the evening was when the Furzeham Performing Arts Group performed a medley of songs from musicals.
