Char­ity rounds off 40th birth­day cel­e­bra­tions

BE­FRIEND­ING char­ity Brix­ham Does Care is ring­ing the changes as it rounds off its 40th an­niver­sary year with two spe­cial events.

The an­nual Mince Pie Christ­mas Sin­ga­long on De­cem­ber 10, pre­vi­ously held in the morn­ing at the Scala Hall, now switches to an af­ter­noon event in the Brix­ham Does Care Café from 1.45-3.45pm. The chil­dren of Furze­ham Pri­mary School Choir will per­form and a raf­fle will be held dur­ing the in­ter­val. Tick­ets in­clude tea and a mince pie and are avail­able from the BDC of­fice by the Town Hall, 01803 857727.

On De­cem­ber 14, at 6.30pm, comes the Christ- mas Big Band Night at the Scala Hall, with en­ter­tain­ment by the Brix­ham Town Band and a fish and chip sup­per. Tick­ets from the BDC of­fice. Fancy dress is op­tional at both events.

The re­cent Mem­o­ries Are Made Of This va­ri­ety show at the Berry Head Ho­tel raised £839 to­wards much-needed funds. The sell-out au­di­ence was en­ter­tained by ma­gi­cian Gareth Fore­man, Totnes School Of Dance, Pen­du­lum 5, Tina Shi­raz, and co-hosts Martyn Pad­don and Jim Hop­kin­son.High­light of the evening was when the Furze­ham Per­form­ing Arts Group per­formed a med­ley of songs from mu­si­cals.
