Call for Yellow Army to help communities

TORQUAY United Community Sports Trust is calling on the Gulls’ so-called Yellow Army of supporters to help provide something special for football enthusiasts in Ghana.
Inclusion manager Emma Potter is working with the Ankoma Outreach charity in Ghana, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving lives in Ankoma, Ghana through their simple ethos: ‘we care, we give, we share’.
The idea is to send out as much football kit, boots and equipment to the Ankoma community as possible, enhancing sporting opportunities for children and adults in the Kwahu District in Ghana.
“I have been involved with the charity since 2015 and vo- lunteered in the village of Ankoma, which was a humbling and fulfilling experience,” said Emma.
“The happiness simple gestures like this can bring to lives blighted by hardship is so rewarding.
“The passion for football in Ankoma is extraordinary and it made perfect sense for TUCST to join the project.
“A big thanks to the first-team players at Torquay United, who have already started the collection by donating some of their old football boots and it would be fantastic to send out a bundle of goodies for Christmas.” If you have any old football boots or kit, drop it into Torquay United, or email emmapotter@torquayunited.com
