Ex­plor­ing fi­nal fron­tier from in­side class­room

STARS in the night sky came into the class­room at a Torquay School.

Young­sters at All Saints Bab­ba­combe CofE Pri­mary School had a visit from the Space Odyssey dome to in­spire pupils in their learn­ing about the so­lar sys­tem and other space top­ics. Re­cep­tion, Year 5 and Year 6 at the school a chance to visit the plan­e­tar­ium which gives a unique look into the fas­ci­nat­ing sub­ject learn­ing about as­tro­nauts, rock­ets plan­ets and stars.

Head teacher Richard Nut­beam said: “Our Re­cep­tion, Year 5 and Year 6 chil­dren had the op­por­tu­nity to visit the Space Odyssey Dome.

“The chil­dren learnt about our so­lar sys­tem, plan­ets, Tim­o­thy Peake, rocket launches and evo­lu­tion.

“It was a fan­tas­tic op­por­tu­nity for the chil­dren to en­gage in their learn­ing out­side the class­room.

“Ex­pe­ri­ences, such as the space dome, al­low the school to en­rich the chil­dren’s cur­ricu­lum, cre­at­ing last­ing mem­o­ries that will help them develop a love for their learn­ing.”
