Official: Hengist is now Made In Sheffield

-

NEW BR Clan Pacific No. 72010 Hengist is now officially a thoroughbred Sheffield product.

The Standard Steam Locomotive Company Limited (SSLC) project has been awarded the use of the world-famous Made In Sheffield mark, becoming the latest in a long line of high-quality engineering projects to be developed and built in the city.

Despite the ongoing impact of Covid-19, work on building the 1000th BR Standard steam locomotive has continued to take place at CTL Seal's factory in Ecclesfield, Sheffield – the only city in the UK whose name is protected thanks to its global reputation for quality in engineering and manufacturing.

Project chairman Allan Jones said: “We're delighted to be recognised by Made In Sheffield. We're proud to be part of the city of Sheffield's worldrenowned history of engineering and manufacturing, and receiving permission to officially use the Made In Sheffield brand is a major endorsement of the work that we have done since the project moved to the city in 2017. We're looking forward to continuing to forge strong links with the local community in the months and years ahead.”
