Landslip on Moorsline

-

THE North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) has become the latest railway to suffer a landslip, which has led to the temporary suspension of movements along the full route – though it is reported to be not severe.

It has occurred around the 22¾ milepost on the straight before Beck Hole bridge, in a similar spot to the major landslip of 1986.

Dealing with the slip is set to involve improvements to drainage, a ballast drop and tamping back to the correct level. However, it is anticipated that it will have no effect on the line’s current plans to reopen to the public in early May.

Meanwhile, work is underway on laying track into the carriage stable at Pickering, with the points from the Long Siding which feeds the pointwork serving the shed, now installed.
