“Fag Break”

I wonder how many engine men sneaked out the back to have a quick fag break back in the day? I spotted this scene at Didcot Railway Centre during a Timeline Events night shoot. Matt Toms was about to light up anyway, so I took the opportunity to capture this moment, his shovel resting up beside the open shed door, leading your eye to the warm glow on the side of GWR Castle No. 4079 Pendennis Castle inside the main building. I left this photograph in colour so you can see the orange glow on Matt’s face, and I love the cold tints on the brickwork and shed door. They just bring the photograph to life.
