“Hello Driver!”

This classic scene as depicted on the Southern Railway poster of the young boy looking up at the engine driver was replicated at Kidderminster on the Severn Valley Railway during a 1940s war weekend in 2019. Tom Clarke and his son Teddy worked together to make this photograph come to life. I asked them to look at each other and waited for the split second I needed to take the shot. Teddy was being bribed with sweets and fish and chips by his dad to persuade him to stand still and smile. This scene was all over in less than 20 seconds.
