Public appeal for carriage shed donations tops £40,000

THE Swanage Railway's £65,000 appeal towards a new carriage shed at Herston has now topped £40,000.

It is hoped to build the carriage shed during the coming winter months and keep up to 10 bogie coaches – including the line's wooden framed Southern Railway coaches – undercover all year round, substantially reduce maintenance costs and enabling.
