QUARRY LAYOUT AND MORE WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT SEPTEMBER'S INTERNATIONAL N GUAGE SHOW

-

ORGANISERS of the International N Gauge Show are “reasonably confident” that the event will go ahead this year.

Meridienne Exhibitions intend to hold the show at the Warwickshire Event Centre on September 11/12, and will monitor Government advice and guidance to ensure it will comply with Covid-19 requirements.

More than 25 steam, modern image, continental and American layouts will be on display, while five of the leading N gauge societies and almost 40 specialist suppliers are expected to attend.

One of the steam-era layouts is Brinklow, built by the Milton Keynes Model Railway Society and depicting the Trent Valley line between Rugby and Nuneaton in the period from 1948 to the early 1960s. Opened on December 1, 1847 with the name Stretton, the station was renamed Brinklow on January 1, 1870, and closed on September 16, 1957. Also based on an original prototype is Freshwater, western terminus of the Freshwater, Yarmouth & Newport Railway on the Isle of Wight; while freelance steam-era layouts include ‘Crossharbour', a station and quayside during the preparations for the D-Day landings, and ‘Sandy Bay', on the Scarborough-Whitby line.

Diesel-era layouts will include Meldon West, a fictional quarry layout set in the BR Sectorisation era of the 1980s, and, from the same period, King's Park, set on the West Coast Main Line.

Demonstrating the possibilities of this small scale will be a 53-inch layout inside a gun case, and another inside a cutlery box displaying 1:143 scale French models made by Rail Route. ➜ Tickets are due to go on sale in late June. More information can be found at www.ngaugeshow. co.uk
