CBE for Chatham dockyard top man

THE former chief executive of the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust has been awarded a CBE for services to heritage in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2021.

Bill Ferris OBE, DL, held the position for almost 20 years before retiring in August 2020.

He said: “The Historic Dockyard Chatham has become a leader in the field of heritage-led regeneration and education within a superbly restored heritage environment. To me, CBE can only stand for one thing – Chatham's Brilliant Effort.”
