Severn Valley souvenir guide and 2022 calendars
(Steam calendars £9.99, 72-page guide £10, from www.svrshop.co.uk and Severn valley shops).
IN addition to its existing visitor guide, the Severn Valley Railway has produced a separate guide aimed at nonenthusiast visitors who may want to learn all about the line for the first time.
The all-colour guide is packed with facts, history and fascinating stories about the SVR from its earliest days to its current operation.
The SVR's head of marketing and communications, Lesley Carr, said: “We wanted to produce a book that's easily accessible to the general visiting public. They might simply be coming to the railway for a fun day out, but we think they might also be open to and interested in a little more behind-thescenes information.
“We've worked hard to produce something that will appeal to all ages, and we hope that through its pages, they might just catch the heritage railway bug and want to come back for more!”
After the 2021 calendar quickly sold out despite lockdown, the SVR has doubled up to produce two this year, one highlighting steam and the other diesels. Each contains 12 pictures from locations along the 16-mile line, with sufficient space to make notes under each date.
All three are superbly illustrated and produced in their own right. Why not buy the guide and maybe a calendar as a Christmas present for a friend to show them just what a magnificent railway this is? SPLENDID OFFERINGS WITH UNVERSAL APPEAL
