Middleton pioneer diesels event postponed until spring next year

-

THE Middleton Railway has been forced to cancel its 90 Years of the Diesel event on September 10/11.

In addition to 1932-built LMS 0-6-09DM No. 7051, two of the planned stars of the event were Hudswell Clarke 0-4-0DM Mary, which dates from 1932, and 1929-built Kerr Stuart 6wDM No. 4421 Rom River from the Foxfield Railway. Both needed some mechanical work before they could appear at the event but it was not possible to complete them to a standard where their appearance could be guaranteed.

The event has been postponed until spring 2023 under the heading ‘90 Plus’. However, a different kind of event will be held on the line on September 10/11, featuring steam and diesel locomotives from the Middleton Railway Trust’s own collection.
