Miniature line reopens two months after vandal attack

BOLTON’S Moss Bank Park Miniature Railway has reopened to the public two months after a vandal attack.

About £20,000 worth of damage was caused in the incident, carried out by around10 youngsters on June 3. The mile-long track was reduced to 20ft. It occurred shortly after the railway started running following Covid-19 lockdowns.

A national appeal was launched for funds to repair the damage, and several groups contribute­d. Southport Model Engineerin­g Club, for example, held a special fundraisin­g day and collected £370.

Temporary track has been used to restart services.

Police were still investigat­ing the vandalism incident.
