Saleroom or live online sales only? The debate continues
MY comments in last month’s column about the debate over saleroom or online-only railwayana auctions has led to an interesting response from John Jolly, the boss of Mangapps Railway Museum and an active and respected collector.
His typically forthright and well-argued thoughts on the subject are in this issue’s Platform column of readers’ letters, but can be summed up as: “Initially I couldn’t get on with live online-only auctions but now I’m a convert.”
As the owner of one of the country’s finest private railwayana collections, John’s views deserve being aired and are of interest whatever side of the fence collectors sit on. Read the letter and email Heritage Railway editor, Robin Jones, at rjones@mortons.co.uk, if you have any views on the debate.
