It’s time to take a look at the general railwayana scene
SUCH A-list celebrities as nameplates, worksplates, or other locomotive items, and indeed B-listers like the increasingly-popular totems, understandably grab the headlines in railwayana circles – but there is a plethora of artefacts that may be of limited interest or even little value that have nevertheless given their owners pleasure over the years.
They will be found in the leading auction houses’ general railwayana sales, which have a dedicated following, and one such is GW Railwayana’s timed auction scheduled to run from October 2-16. Among the 400 lots will be shed and wagonplates, handlamps, signalling equipment, photographs, badges, watches and paperwork, and there is also a selection of North Eastern Railway doorplates, including ‘weigh office.’
A timed auction is one in which online bids may be made in a defined period and finish in timed blocks.
