Plym Valley Class 03 for sale

-

FOLLOWING a review of its assets, the Plym Valley Railway is offering BR Class 03 D2046 for sale, which has been deemed as surplus to requirements.

Built at Doncaster in 1958, it was withdrawn from BR in 1971 and sold to Gulf Oil for use at its Waterson Refinery at Milford Haven, for which it received an air-start conversion. In 2000 it was moved to Merthyr Tydfil where it was repainted and prepared for disposal, arriving at the PVR under private ownership in 2006, where it has been under restoration ever since. Although it has been started and moved under its own power, the current lack of suitable compressor for the air start system means it will be sold as seen without a start-up being possible. Several parts were removed before restoration stalled but these are included in the sale, with a small number of spares including exhausters potentially also available.

Viewing is recommended to interested parties. To arrange this, or for further information and to place bids (subject to VAT being added), contact pvrdphillips@ gmail.com

Bids must be placed by noon on November 11.
