Strong GWR presence in models sale

AS REPORTED in last month’s issue, Dreweatt’s half-yearly Transport Sale of live steam models on November 1 features a selection of high-end exhibition-quality examples with maximum estimates of above £10,000, including 7¼in gauge models of GWR 2-8-0

No. 4708 and SECR 4-4-0 No. 735 at up to £60,000 each.

However, below such heights come models at or below five figures, including 5in gauge GWR Nos. 7813 Freshford Manor and 3822 County of Brecon (at up to £10,000 each), and 3½in gauge No. 6001 King Edward VII (up to £7000).

Below these is a 5in gauge group estimated at up to £4000 apiece, comprising GWR 2-6-2T No. 4554, 0-6-0PT No. 5700 and an unnumbered pannier tank, an LNER B1 class 4-6-0 that is also unnumbered, and LNWR Precedent class 2-4-0 No. 2187 Penrith Beacon.

The auction, which is being held at Donnington Priory, Newbury, and starts at noon, also features a small selection of railwayana that includes cast iron GWR private road and LNWR beware of the trains signs.
